Frontline Spot-On For Cats

Frontline Spot-On For Cats is the original formula of the Frontline flea and tick range. Frontline Spot-On for Cats kills fleas and ticks on your cat to help protect them from the discomfort and diseases that these parasites cause.

Frontline Spot-On is fast-acting, killing fleas on your cat within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours. Frontline protects cats against fleas for up to 5 weeks and against ticks for up to 4 weeks. It also helps reduce the risk of tick-borne diseases.

Frontline Spot-On is water resistant, meaning that from 48 hours after application, your pet can swim or be bathed as usual.

Frontline Spot-On is a clinically proven veterinary medicine. It can be applied to cats from 8 weeks of age that weigh at least 1kg. It can also be used on pregnant and nursing cats.

Directions

How often should I apply Frontline Spot-On for Cats?

  • For the prevention of flea infestations: Apply every 5 weeks.
  • To treat a severe flea infestation: Apply every 4 weeks for 12-16 weeks to bring the flea population under control.
  • To protect your cat from ticks: Apply every 4 weeks. Frontline Spot On is not a tick repellent so you may still see some ticks on your pet, but they should be killed within 48 hours.

It is important to apply the dose to an area where the animal cannot lick it off. If licking occurs, a brief period of hypersalivation may occur, due mainly to the nature of the carrier.

Do not apply Frontline Spot-On more frequently than 4 weeks intervals. Always read the instructions in full prior to treatment.

Remember it is important to treat your cat all year round, as centrally heated homes make an ideal breeding ground for fleas.

Treating flea infestations

It's important to know that it's normal to see fleas on your pet as they pick up new fleas that are hatching out from pupae in the environment. These will be killed within 24 hours of jumping onto your treated pet. However, if you’re seeing a large number of fleas, this is a sign that your home environment is infested.

You should use Frontline Spot On alongside a household flea spray containing an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). Carpets and furnishings must then be vacuumed regularly and pet bedding should be washed above 60°C.

This will kill flea eggs and larvae, but not pupae, so new adult fleas will still be seen on your pet until they have all hatched out of their pupae and into the environment. You should treat your pet every four weeks to bring the flea population under control.
